The next generation of Gaelic Footballers in Canada’s Capital will gather in Barrhaven on June 12th for the Ottawa Gaels annual Youth Blitz Tournament. The tournament is the culmination of our spring and summer youth training programs that take place across the city. Teams will be made up on the morning of the tournament following registration. Continuous games will run from 10am until 1pm. Competition will be divided by ages: U8, U10, U12 and U14, boys and girls mixed but not age groups. There will be a BBQ from 1-2pm. Registration fees for our training programs include participation in the Youth Blitz Tournament. The Ottawa Gaels have planned a summer camp for kids ages 6-12 in Kanata from July 6th to 10th. Campers who register will learn the basics of Gaelic Football through our FUNdamental Skill Development Program with mini games and daily competitions. Interactive instruction will be provided by experienced coaches from Ireland in a well supervised, high coach-to-player ratio environment. When not on the pitch, campers enjoy other activities including a daily swim at the local municipal pool and co-operative outdoor games, all while learning about Irish culture through the coaches and guest instructors. The Ottawa Gaels are pleased to welcome two highly qualified and experienced Gaelic Football coaches from Ireland to head up our youth development program. Angela Stevenson and Emmett Stewart will be teaching Gaelic Football to students in Ottawa and Almonte schools. The coaching will be delivered to students from Grade 1 to 8 as part of the Phys Ed curriculum as well as through our community programs in Kanata, Riverside South and Almonte. Our association is extremely fortunate to be welcoming such talent to teach and coach in our youth programs.
