Dear Ottawa Gaels,I understand these are challenging times for everyone as we move into the winter during the second wave of this pandemic but the Ottawa Gaels continue to stay the course, and have some great activities planned over the next few months. I want to take this opportunity to share some exciting updates with you. AGM & 2020/21 Executive First off, I would like to personally thank all 19 members who attended our first ever virtual AGM on October 25th. Miraculously, we had no technical difficulties, and it went quite smoothly. Dear Ottawa Gaels, As Ottawa slowly begins to reopen, the Ottawa Gaels are excited to be working on our “Return To Play” protocols for the Mens and Ladies teams. We anticipate being in a position to return to training within the next 30-60 days for the Seniors assuming the Ontario Provincial guidelines do not change. In regards to the youth program, we will provide an update in the late summer to determine the feasibility of a “Return To Play” in the fall for the youth. The 2019 Mike Robinson Memorial Gaelic Games Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 21st at Twin Elm Rugby Park. Registration for the tournament is now open. Please complete the form below. Our annual memorial tournament honours a wonderful friend of the Gaels and celebrates the excitement of our great sport in a fun, co-ed, family-friendly Gaelic Football tournament that is not too serious and spans the ages from 5 up to 70! As part of the days’ activities there is also a youth tournament for up and coming Gaelic footballers. The Youth portion of our tournament will run from 10am-12pm while Seniors games will play from 12:30-4:30pm. The Ottawa Gaels are thrilled to welcome a St. Mary’s student from Ireland to coach Gaelic football and Hurling/Camogie. Twenty-one year old Rebecca Coyle hails from a small village called Greencastle in County Tyrone. The very same County as our talented Angela Stevenson! She plays Gaelic football for her local Ladies Gaelic football club, called Sperrin Óg situated in Greencastle. Rebecca has been playing Gaelic Football from a very young age. She began with Sperrin Óg from the age of 6 years old and has played from U6’s right through to senior football. She has received many county league and championship medals along the way.
