Dear Ottawa Gaels, Happy belated Family Day to our Ottawa Gaels Family! I hope everyone has been out enjoying the wonders of winter. The Ottawa Gaels Club has an abundance of activities to keep you busy over the next month whether you are a new member, alumni or just a friend of the Gaels. With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, we are gearing up for some good craic. Happy 2020! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and had an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends. What a busy and fun month the Ottawa Gaels just had! Five new Foundation Level Certified Camogie Coaches, our Youth Awards Evening, some members from the Executive attended the O’Neills CGAA Development Day & AGM in Montreal and our Christmas Social. Thank you to all our volunteers who contributed to making all the events so successful! A special thank you to all of Santa’s little helpers who donated or volunteered in assembling the shoeboxes at the Christmas Social and for the donations to the Food Bank. On Saturday, September 1st over the Labour Day Weekend our Senior mens and ladies teams traveled to Prince Edward Island for the 2018 ECGAA Championships and completed a very successful showing. Our Senior and Junior Ladies met in the Senior Final, having each won their respective division and their own semi-final! The Ottawa Gaels will be running a Gaelic Football coaching course on Sunday, November 27th, from 8am to 3:30pm at the Rideauview Community Centre. Many of you are already coaching our young athletes and this course will further strengthen your coaching resources. The Gaels want to encourage more seniors to get the training and join us on the field, as the feedback our club has received form the parents and the kids is that the youth really look up to us (especially the girls!) and are excited to be coached by senior players, who they see as role models. The Ottawa Gaels invite you to join us as we march in the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th, 2015. We’ll be meeting inside the front entrance of City Hall at 10am, which is where the parade route begins. The parade then heads West on Laurier before turning South on Laurier, finishing at Lansdowne park. We’re encouraging all Gaels athletes, fans, friends and family to march with us and to wear your Gaels jerseys, hoodies, training shirts and hats with pride! Following the parade, we’ll be gathering at St. Bridgid’s Centre for the Arts, to enjoy traditional Irish music and dancing. We’ll also have an information booth on-site.
