The Ottawa Gaels are the only Canadian Gaelic Athletic Association club that has participated in all ten Continental Youth Championship (CYC) tournaments. At times it has been difficult to maintain momentum but this year was our banner year. We had 33 athletes from 19 families who traveled to New York City to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of Gaelic football in New York. Posted on Jul 15, 2014 in Ottawa Gaels | Comments Off on World Cup Pool Standings: And The Winner Is…

The results are in for the Ottawa Gaels World Cup Fundraising Pool and this year’s winner is ………. Mowgli Price! Mowgli returned from his one month ban due to a failed drug test in the Gaels Olympics Pool and came from behind to beat out the competition by only one point. His decision to choose Costa Rica to win Group D was initially labelled as one of the most ridiculous picks of the pool but ended up being the most sagacious one of the tournament. Mowgli wins $275 Honourable mention to Smitho and Kerry Mortimer who correctly picked the four teams that would make it to the Consolation and Championship rounds but failed to choose the correct order that they would finish in. Sorry, this ain’t hand grenades or horseshoes. An additional honourable mention goes out to Colleen Shirley...
