Ottawa Gaels well represented on Team Canada for World GAA Games in Ireland this summer
It was recently announced on the GAA website that this August the World GAA games will be played in Dublin, Ireland. More than 1,700 Gaelic footballers, hurlers and camogie players from 10 regions around the globe will be bringing Gaelic games to Ireland for the 2016 Etihad Airways GAA World Games in Dublin. A total of 87 teams from 20 countries will travel to Dublin for a week-long festival of Gaelic games activity between August 7 and 14 at UCD’s Belfield campus, with the finals being played at Croke Park. Teams from as far away as Australia, South Africa, and Argentina will be present, as well as teams from China, Canada, the Middle East, the US, Europe, and Britain. The Ottawa Gaels are excited to once again be taking part in the annual Irish Society of The National Capital Region Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. This year’s parade is set for Saturday, March 19th. The Parade will leave the intersection of Elgin St. and Laurier Avenue West at 11:00am, proceed westward along Laurier to Bank Street and then south on Bank Street to Lansdowne Park. At the conclusion of the parade, Lansdowne will be home to the inaugural Beau’s St. Patrick’s Party inside the Aberdeen Pavilion.
