Happy 2020! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and had an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends. What a busy and fun month the Ottawa Gaels just had! Five new Foundation Level Certified Camogie Coaches, our Youth Awards Evening, some members from the Executive attended the O’Neills CGAA Development Day & AGM in Montreal and our Christmas Social. Thank you to all our volunteers who contributed to making all the events so successful! A special thank you to all of Santa’s little helpers who donated or volunteered in assembling the shoeboxes at the Christmas Social and for the donations to the Food Bank. St. Mary’s was delighted to receive six boxes from the Ottawa Gaels. This is the first year they have organized shoeboxes for the men at the home and they were overjoyed...

Join us for the first Annual Youth Awards night to celebrate the youth players of the Ottawa Gaels Club. 2018 has been a fantastic year for all our youth teams and we want to get everyone together to celebrate and recognize these achievements and the hard work that all of our young players have put in all season. Boys and Girls from the Ottawa Gaels youth teams are invited to join with their friends, parents and youth coaches in a celebration of the young talent at the club. Awards night will be held at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts in the Byward Market, beginning at 6pm. We will be combining our annual spaghetti dinner with the youth presentation night. On Saturday, September 1st over the Labour Day Weekend our Senior mens and ladies teams traveled to Prince Edward Island for the 2018 ECGAA Championships and completed a very successful showing. Our Senior and Junior Ladies met in the Senior Final, having each won their respective division and their own semi-final! We are hosting a Gaelic Football introduction and training session in Riverside South. Bring out your kids – all ages welcome – to learn how to play this fast paced and exciting sport. The game draws on skills and aspects from many sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball and football. We are excited to be hosting Tom Murphy, a highly qualified coach from Ireland this summer to run our youth program. The sport is offered in the high school Phys Ed curriculum in Gr 7 & 8 at the Ottawa Catholic School Board is gaining more traction in the City.
