Registration for Gaelic Games Multi-Sport Summer Camp Now Open

Join us for the only Gaelic Games Multi-Sport Summer camp offered anywhere Canada. This exciting camp for kids ages 6-12 runs for 2 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August. Your kids will get to learn and play all five Gaelic Games that includes: Gaelic Football Handball Rounders Hurling/Camogie Athletics (Track & Field) Campers will learn the basics of Gaelic Games through our FUNdamental Skill Development Program with mini games and daily competitions. Kids will also enjoy other sports including Soccer, Basketball, Tag-Rugby and many more. Interactive instruction will be provided by experienced coaches from Ireland in a well supervised, high coach-to-player ratio environment. When not on the pitch, campers enjoy a daily swim at the local municipal pool and learning about Irish culture (Irish dance and language) through the coaches and guest instructors. Gaelic Season Begins With Fun-4-All Youth Program

The Ottawa Gaels are kicking off the 2018 Gaelic season with a weekly Fun-4-All youth program that will run through February and March. Join us on Monday evenings for a program featuring small sided games and multi-sports skills development. Sessions will be broken down into two age groups for children between the ages of 5 to 8 and another for kids aged 9 to 15. Coach Angela will be there along with two new coaches who have just arrived from Ireland. This program is offered at a cost of only $20 for five weeks or at a rate of $5 per drop in. This year’s Mike Robinson Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 23rd. Our annual memorial tournament honours a wonderful friend of the Gaels and celebrates the excitement of our great sport in a fun, co-ed, family-friendly Gaelic Football tournament that is not too serious and spans the ages from 14 up to 70! As part of the days’ activities there is also a youth tournament for up and coming Gaelic footballers. The Youth portion of our tournament will run from 10am-12pm while Seniors games will play from 11am-4pm. I join a group of spectators under a tree to watch an Under 14 Boys Gaelic Football match between the Ottawa Gaels from Canada and Trinity Milton from Massachusetts. The score is tied at the end of the second half. The players prepare for overtime, seeking refuge from the heat in the shady patch off to the side. I find myself caught up in the game, my eyes glued to the field. Neither of my children is playing in this division, but I feel I must see the outcome of the match. The Ottawa Gaels are returning to Almonte Celtfest on Saturday, July 8th. We will be hosting Gaelic Football youth games, a skills competition, and a football demo for parents. Be sure to stick around to watch the Ottawa Gaels ladies and men’s teams compete in exhibition play. Celtfest is a fun weekend of Ottawa Valley and Celtic entertainment, performed in the natural amphitheater of Gemmill Park in the heart of Almonte.
