2017 Mike Robinson Tournament – Sept 23

This year’s Mike Robinson Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 23rd. Our annual memorial tournament honours a wonderful friend of the Gaels and celebrates the excitement of our great sport in a fun, co-ed, family-friendly Gaelic Football tournament that is not too serious and spans the ages from 14 up to 70! As part of the days’ activities there is also a youth tournament for up and coming Gaelic footballers. The Youth portion of our tournament will run from 10am-12pm while Seniors games will play from 11am-4pm. I join a group of spectators under a tree to watch an Under 14 Boys Gaelic Football match between the Ottawa Gaels from Canada and Trinity Milton from Massachusetts. The score is tied at the end of the second half. The players prepare for overtime, seeking refuge from the heat in the shady patch off to the side. The Ottawa Gaels at 2017 Almonte Celtfest

The Ottawa Gaels are returning to Almonte Celtfest on Saturday, July 8th. We will be hosting Gaelic Football youth games, a skills competition, and a football demo for parents. Be sure to stick around to watch the Ottawa Gaels ladies and men’s teams compete in exhibition play. Celtfest is a fun weekend of Ottawa Valley and Celtic entertainment, performed in the natural amphitheater of Gemmill Park in the heart of Almonte. Gaelic Football Summer Camp Dates and Information

The Ottawa Gaels will once again be running a series of summer day camps for kids ages 6-12 in July. Campers who register will learn the basics of Gaelic Football through our FUNdamental Skill Development Program with mini games and daily competitions. Interactive instruction will be provided by experienced coaches from Ireland in a well supervised, high coach-to-player ratio environment. When not on the pitch, campers enjoy other activities including a daily swim at the local municipal pool and co-operative outdoor games, all while learning about Irish culture through the coaches and guest instructors. The Ottawa Gaels have opened youth registration for the 2017 season. This season’s program offers tremendous value at a sign-up cost of only $100. Those who register will enjoy: 6 weeks of indoor training sessions 8 weeks of outdoor training sessions Competion in 3 local tournaments This summer program requires only a commitment of once a week, with four locations around the Ottawa region (Almonte, Kanata, Ottawa West and Riverside South). Youth Gaelic Football Try It Sessions – Free!

Join us for our free sessions to learn how to play Gaelic Football! This in an introduction to the sport for those who have never played and a chance to play for the first time in 2017 for those who have. We will run two sessions of one hour each 8-9am and 9-10am. Drop in at whatever time suits you best! Our first session will take place on Sunday, February 12 for kids ages U8 and U10. Our second session is scheduled for Sunday, March 5th.
